How this started

We used to put the kids' glow blankets out in the sun. Twenty minutes, half an hour, then back inside — and we'd get a faint shimmer. Pleasant, but not the thing they were hoping for.

Then one night they waved a UV flashlight across one, and it lit up like it had swallowed the sun.

That surprised us enough to look into why, and the answer turned out to be simple: glow materials aren't charged by brightness, they're charged by ultraviolet. Sunlight is mostly visible and infrared light, and almost none of it does the work. A UV beam is nearly all usable energy. Seconds of it beat half an hour outside.

Three kids figured that out by accident, in the dark, in about four seconds. This store grew out of that moment — a small collection of things that transform under light, chosen with them, for families who like being surprised by something real.
